In 2009 we will offer two ‘winner take all’ pools of money for
teams to opt into if they choose (ENTIRELY OPTIONAL). There will be a
$100 pool and a $250.00 pool available. Each team may enter either pool
OR both pools if they choose, but a team can only enter a pool once. All
of the money that is put into these pools by teams registered in the
tournament will be awarded to the team who entered the pool and lands
the SINGLE SHARK YIELDING THE GREATEST POINT TOTAL among the

teams that entered that pool. In other words, a 230 lb mako (230 x 1.5 = 345
points) would beat a 340 lb blue shark (total of 340 points). The
tournament does NOT take any money from these pools of money. It all
goes to the winner of the pool. Therefore, even though the overall
tournament winner will again be determined by a point TOTAL in 2009,
the pool winner will be based on a SINGLE SHARK POINT TOTAL ALONE.

The rule of a minimum 9.0 foot fork length for blue sharks applies to
the betting pools as well as to the general tournament (i.e., no blue
sharks with a fork length of less than 9.0 feet can be weighed in for
the pool money). In theory, a team could win both the overall tournament
AND one, or both, of the ‘winner take all’ pools, if they were
registered in the pool(s) and a shark that they weighed in over the two
days that helped them win the tournament was also the highest point
total shark overall weighed in the ‘winner take all’ pool(s) during
the tournament!

In the unlikely event that nobody wins either of the ‘winner take
all’ pools, all of the team’s entry fee will be refunded at the end
of the tournament. We will have an individual available at the
Captain’s dinner on 8/27 to enroll teams into these pools, if they wish to enter.

The pools will be a ‘cash only’ event, so be sure to bring cash for this if your
team decides ahead of time that they want to enter one or both of these
pools of money
